It’s January. The weather is wet, cold, grey and miserable. We are still gardening. Sometimes you might feel like motivation is a bit lacking before you head out of the door with your wellies on. Head on out anyway! Everything you do out there right now, will save you 10 x the time all of the rest of the year around.

Right now, the weeds are fairly small, soft and weak. The grass tufts are small, soft and weak also. There are also far fewer weeds and grass tufts in total right now than there will be every time you go and weed this year…..if you do not pull them out now. Yes now. Outside you go, and clear a single border. If the weed totals one barrow worth now, you can hoe fortnightly thereafter for 5 minutes for the rest of the year. If you don’t….then you will be fighting these weeds all year and have barrows and barrow loads instead.
